Wayne Parnell South African Fast Bowler Has Converted to Islam

South African fast bowler Wayne Parnell has converted to Islam after a period of personal study and reflection and will celebrate his 22nd birthday on Friday as a Muslim.
Parnell confirmed in a statement on Thursday that he converted to Islamic faith in January this year and is considering a name change to Waleed, which means ‘Newborn Son’.
“While I have not yet decided on an Islamic name I have considered the name Waleed which means Newborn Son, but for now my name remains Wayne Dillon Parnell. I will continue to respect the team’s endorsement of alcoholic beverages. I am playing cricket in Sussex and this is my immediate focus,” said Port Elizabeth-born Parnell.
“As I am approaching my first period of fasting, I ask that this special time is treated with respect. I am a young man, a professional cricketer by trade, and while I can appreciate and am grateful for the public interest in my personal life, my faith choice is a matter which I would like to keep private,” said the promising Warriors left-arm seam bowler.
Proteas team manager Mohamed Moosajee, himself a Muslim, said Parnell’s Muslim teammates Hashim Amla and Imran Tahir had not influenced his decision to convert from Christianity.

10 Ways to Control your Baby’s Gender

People have been, around the world, trying to control their baby’s gender since times forgotten. They want to raise the probability of the sex of the baby they are going to bear. People really want to believe that they have some control over whether they have a boy or a girl but some doubt if this is actually true. There is no doubt that there are methods that allow you a great deal of control over your baby’s sex. Some are more reliable than others. Women no longer have to rely solely on the serendipitous meeting of egg and sperm to get the son or daughter they’ve always wanted. Strides in reproductive science have revolutionized human conception, giving us more choices and control than our grandmothers ever imagined. Now, for example, a woman with the time, money and inclination can boost her odds of conceiving a daughter by a staggering 92 percent. A lot of people assume that gender selection is wrong. They think that it is wrong to tamper with the development of your child. However, science doesn’t always have to be involved. There are ways to control the gender of your child without using harmful procedures that might harm the child’s development or the health of the mother. You can select the gender of your child and you don’t have to harm your baby.

10. Diet

There’s no question that you can and should control what you can when it comes to the father’s diet. Healthy foods can contribute to healthy sperm. But in terms of choosing an acidic or alkaline diet, this is best accomplished with the woman or mother to be. These changes can have an affect on whether the couples conceives a boy or a girl. Scientists believe that the woman’s diet influences the PH of her reproductive tract. Y chromosome gametes thrive in an alkaline environment, whereas x chromosome gametes prefer an acidic environment. Eat lots of vegetables and fish if you desire a girl. For a boy, they should eat lots of meat, sodium and eggs, a protein-based diet. The study, published in the journal Proceedings of the Royal Society B: Biological Sciences, shows a link between higher energy intake around the time of conception and the birth of sons. But remember; eating a well balanced diet is imperative for a healthy pregnancy.

9. Sexual Position

Various sex positions and habits can favor one gender over another. If you are trying to conceive a boy, deep penetration from your partner, preferably with the “doggy style” position, will deposit the sperm closer to the cervix giving the more aggressive and quicker moving “boy” sperm a head start to fertilizating the egg first. To conceive a girl the man needs to have shallow penetration. That means typically having sex in the missionary position. This keeps the sperm farther from the egg then other positions, and that is key in trying to conceive a girl. The X chromosomes are hearty sperm and very resilient. They live longer then Y chromosomes but also swim slower. For that reason you want them to have an edge over the faster swimming boy sperm and making them have to swim farther ensures that they will outlive the males to get to the egg.

8. Orgasms

When trying to conceive a boy,  the multiple orgasms during sex are a good thing for those who want a baby boy as the body produces substances after orgasm that makes the vaginal environment more alkaline, which favors the “boy” sperm. The contractions which accompany an orgasm help move the sperm up and into the cervix, giving the “boy” sperm an extra chance at being available when your egg is available for fertilization.

7. Timing & Frequency of Intercourse

In order to increase the chances of having a boy, you should have sex no earlier than 24 hours before ovulation to 12 hours after ovulation. Intercourse closer to ovulation the faster but less robust Y (boy) sperm. The cervical mucus present at ovulation is less acidic and “slippery” enough to help the Y (boy) sperm reach the egg more quickly. Delaying the intercourse after all signs of ovulation have passed over 12 hours can however favor those who want a girl.

Ibn Al-Qayyim: Superiority of the Prophetic Medicine Over All Other Medicine

Imam Ibn al-Qayyim said in his excellent work, Zaad al-Ma'aad (3/97-98), after discussing the benefits of honey in relation to the man who was advised by the Messenger (alayhis salaam) to treat the ailment of his stomach with honey:

His medicine (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) is not like the medicine of the physicians, for the medicine of the Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) is certain, definitive, emanating from (divine) revelation, the lantern of prophethood, and perfection of reason. As for the medicine of others, most of it is conjecture, presumptions and experimentation.

Daughters, a matter of pride

Daughters, a matter of pride

Bringing up children with proper care is the primary duty of Muslim parents. Parents should not distinguish in a discriminatory manner between their male and female children when bringing them up. However, the fact remains that girls in many Muslim communities are the victims of their parents’ bias against them.
If parents have any right to be biased, it should be in favor of girls. Almighty Allah mentioned girls first before mentioning boys while referring to His sovereign control over the universe and creation of human beings in the chapter Al-Shura (Poets).
“To God belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. He creates what He wills (and plans). He bestows female (offspring) upon whom He wills, and bestows male (offspring) upon whom He wills. Or He bestows both males and females, and He leaves barren whom He wills: for He is full of Knowledge and Power.” (Verses 49 & 50)
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), has clearly demonstrated that a girl is not a matter of humiliation to a family. On the other hand, she is a matter of pride. A man who brings up his daughters in a proper way will be among those who have the honor of standing close to the Prophet (pbuh) on the Day of Judgment.

Loving and Kissing In Islam.

Sahih Bukhari Volume 1, Book 11, Number 677:
Narrated Anas bin Malik:
The Prophet said, "When I start the prayer I intend to prolong it, but on hearing the cries of a child, I cut short the prayer because I know that the cries of the child will incite its mother's passions."
So the prophet Muhammed (PBUH) would shorten a prayer for the feelings of a mother, the feelings of a mother to a child. As we all know, many mothers often tend to their children when they hear them crying, so the prophet Muhammed (PBUH) would purposely shorten the prayer on hearing the cries of a child, so the mother could tend to her child, and so the mother would need not worry! What a lovely example of compassion and mercy, if only most humans could care to think of such compassion, then this world would be a much better place.
Other examples of the prophet Muhammed’s (PBUH) compassion come from the following hadiths:
Sahih Bukhari Volume 8, Book 73, Number 26:
Narrated Abu Huraira:
Allah's Apostle kissed Al-Hasan bin Ali while Al-Aqra' bin Habis At-Tamim was sitting beside him. Al-Aqra said, "I have ten children and I have never kissed anyone of them," Allah's Apostle cast a look at him and said, "Whoever is not merciful to others will not be treated mercifully."
Bukhari Volume 8, Book 73, Number 27:
Narrated 'Aisha:

The month of Sha’baan

Sha’baan is the name of the (eighth) month, and it is so called because in this month the Arabs used to disperse (tasha’’aba) in search of water, or it was said that they dispersed to carry out raids and forays. Or it was said that it is so called because it sha’aba (branches out or emerges) i.e., it appears between the months of Rajab and Ramadaan. The plural forms of the word Sha’baan are Sha’baanaat and Sha’aabeen.
Fasting in Sha’baan
‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) said: “The Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to fast until we thought he would never break his fast, and not fast until we thought he would never fast. I never saw the Messenger of Allaah fasting for an entire month except in Ramadaan, and I never saw him fast more than he did in Sha’baan.” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, no. 1833; Muslim, no. 1956).
According to a report narrated by Muslim (no. 1957), “He used to fast all of Sha’baan, he used to fast all but a little of Sha’baan.”

Importance of History

By Muhammad Tariq Ghazi
A large number of people are not interested in history. Of those interested, a vast majority is limited to historical myths that help them alleviate pain of the present, which is far more severe than they really deserve. In an attempt to reduce impact of their endless suffering, they find some consolation in remembering that their ancestors were great people who had contributed positively to human heritage, as against the masters of today. An Indian Urdu poet with little understanding of social cycles, once said, “Don’t frown upon torn-up caps on our heads; our crowns are put up in museums”. Such interest in history betrays social sickness, rather than enabling people to make any contribution to society they live in.
Both attitudes are negative. On both sides we find highly educated and otherwise intellectual or academic leaders of a given community. They want to focus on the present, thinking that by moving away from the current situation or changing their existing course of thinking or action, or by simply copying the now developed communities, they could rise to the pinnacle of progress. They have come to this conclusion because they have divorced their followers of their past – their history.

Breastfeeding for Two Full Years

The holy verse:
God be he blessed and exalted says: (The mothers shall give suck to their children for two whole years, (that is) for those (parents) who desire to complete the term of suckling) [Surat al-Baqarah, verse: 233].
The explanation of the verse:
This holy verse confirms that the period of complete breastfeeding is two years, so what have scientists found around this period?

Scientific facts:
Scientists have found that the complete food for a baby is in his mother's milk and that this nourishment wouldn't be complete unless the mother breastfeeds her baby for two full years! All doctors confirm that the mother's milk is completely free of bacteria and it is preferable for the baby than any artificial baby milk. Doctors have observed that the children who take artificial milk in feeding bottles are often subjected to various infections even if this bottle is sterile!
It was shown in a modern medical conference that the ideal period of breastfeeding is two years because the child during these two years is in urgent need for antibodies to develop his immune system and these antibodies aren't present except in mother's milk.
The point of inimitability:
Thus, scientists have discovered that breast milk contains antibacterial immune substances. The Quran told us about the suitable period for developing the child's immune system and that these antibodies couldn't be found except in mother's milk as God be he exalted says: (The mothers shall give suck to their children for two whole years, (that is) for those (parents) who desire to complete the term of suckling) [Surat al-Baqarah, verse: 233]. And the words (two whole years) to confirm the importance of completing the two years and this is what scientists confirm nowadays.

The State of Education [Infographic]

I realized as technology and society continue to innovate and move forward, concentrating on the issue of education seems to slowly fade into the background. Without education, how can we expect to continue these advancements? This beautifully, hand drawn info graphic, aesthetically provides the student-like view point of hard hitting facts, in hopes to raise the issue and awareness on the current state of education.

Interaction between Men and Women on the Internet – Some Guidelines

There are many interactive forums on the Internet, including chat sites and online communities. We need to address the critical question of how Muslim men and women should conduct themselves when they come into contact with one another while participating in these forums.

The following guidelines should be observed by Muslim men and women when interacting with one another on the Internet:

1. Never display photographs under any circumstances.

To start with, photographs are simply not necessary. The written word is more than sufficient. We must also appreciate how photographs can become a great opportunity for Satan to tempt people and make their foul deeds seem fair to them.

Some people might consider such caution misplaced. However, those who understand how people are seduced and tempted and who have experience in dealing with these problems, know that nothing is far-fetched. Moreover, some people who have a sickness in their hearts manage to deceive themselves and others that something which is completely wrong is instead something that is good and that is motivated by the sincerest and noblest intentions.

2. Use typing and avoid audible means of communication.

If, for some reason, using audible media becomes necessary, then we must adhere to Allah's command: “Be not too complaisant of speech, lest one in whose heart is a disease should be moved with desire; but speak a speech that is just.” [ Sûrah al-Ahzâb : 32]

This verse was revealed concerning the wives of the Prophet (peace be upon him). If this was the case for them, we can appreciate how much more it must apply to us. Moreover, that was during the time of the Prophet (peace be upon him) while we are living in the age of permissiveness and promiscuity.

3. Maintain a serious tone and focus in conversation.

We must not get involved in talking at length about things that are unnecessary and unjustified. In truth, many people get a thrill out of merely speaking with the opposite sex, regardless of what the subject might be. Some men just like to hear a pretty voice. Likewise, since women are indeed the full sisters of men, they also find pleasure in speaking with men.

Our tone should be serious. We should avoid all that is superfluous and frivolous.

Rights of Wife and Husband in in Islam

Islam is not a religion but a Din. There is a lot of difference between religion and Din. Religion is a part, while Din is a whole.During the caliphate of Hazrat Umer (ra), the women used to be members of parliament. It has been mentioned in many books of Hadith.

Allah Almighty says: “…consort with them in kindness, for if you hate them it may happen that you hate a thing wherein Allah has placed much good.” (An-Nisa’: 19)

Allah Almighty says, “And they (women) have rights similar to those (of men) over them in kindness, and men are a degree above them. Allah is Mighty, Wise.” (Al-Baqaraqh: 228

"And Allah has made for you Mates (and Companions) of your own nature ..." (Surah Al Nahl 16:72)

The Holy Prophet (saw) himself included women in the important national affairs during the Caliphate period including defence duties.

Prophet Salallaahu 'aliahi wa'sallaam used to extend his knee to his wife to assist her up to ride the camel.

Tears of a woman

A little boy asked his mother, “Why are you crying?”
“Because I need to” she said.
“I don’t understand,” he said.
His mother just hugged him and said, “And you never will.”
Later the little boy asked his father, “Why does mother seem to cry for no reason?”
