Intelligence and learning

Intelligence and learning

A child`s intelligence is mainly inherited from his parents, and the parents`
intelligence is usually a guide to the child`s. However, parents of very high
are low intelligence usually have children who are nearer average than they
are themselves.

Children brought up at home, with all that this means in terms of loving care,
are more advanced by the age of six months then are children brought up in
an impersonal institution, and this trend often continues into the school
years. Some parents teach their children counting games and, later, word
games. They also stimulate children to develop ideas and to invent new
games. Many doctors believe that in spite of a poor start, a child from a
deprived environment often `catches up` in later life.
