Muslim boys died saving Hindu girl from drowning
Grief united people of different religion in UP's most communally sensitive town Moradabad came together for the funeral of two Muslim youths who died trying to rescue a Hindu girl, Suman from drowning, although they could not save her.
The three bodies were recovered by the Army after a 36-hour operation on Sunday ¬ Danish and Noman have become martyrs in the eyes of Hindus and Muslims alike.
While Hindu women showered petals from rooftops as the funeral procession of the two young men passed through the city's streets, men from the community lent a shoulder to their `janaza.' “For me, the two are real-life heroes, “said Sakshi Mehrotra, a resident.
“Even if someone is dying on the road, people of this city remain mute spectators. But the boys proved life is more important than petty religious differences. “
There was heavy police deployment for the procession that began soon after special prayers for the boys. Clerics also read out prayers for the family of Suman and the jawans of the Army who had been involved in the operations.
“We hope that the communal amity which this event has triggered remains in our city, “said Ikram Qureshi, a local leader. Officials told the media that Rs 5lakh would be provided to the families of each of the deceased, besides a government job for one family member each.

Jobless youth finds unlocked ATM with Rs 24 lakh, calls cops
The Hyderabad police on Saturday felicitated a youth who found the cash box of an ATM with Rs 24 lakh unlocked and called the police.
Sheikh Latif Ali had gone to withdraw Rs 200 from a State Bank of Hyderabad ATM on Friday night when he found the cash box open with no guard around. He called the police who found Rs 24 lakh in the unlocked ATM machine. It was later learnt that there was no CCTV camera.
Ali, 22, completed his B.Tech (Electrical) this year and lives in a men’s hostel in Sanjeev Reddy Nagar. On Friday, he went to the ATM at State Bank of Hyderabad’s main branch in S R Nagar with two of his friends. “There was no guard outside and I did not find anything unusual. I inserted the card to withdraw Rs 200. As the machine dispensed the cash, a small door on the side of the machine fell open and currency notes fell out. I was dumbstruck as my account has not more than Rs 500. I asked my friends waiting outside to look for the security guard but they found no one,” Ali said.

Minorityism of the majority rule
By Kashif-ul-Huda, TwoCircles.net
A new regime is in town and there is a rush to pledge allegiance to the new power. The power brokers that reside in Delhi (and there are many of them there) need to make peace with the new power centres or be forced to close their shop, so they decided to sing paens to the new King of Delhi.
In past few days statements are floating from Muslim leaders and organizations ranging from telling Muslims not to fear the new regime to wishing a long life to the new PM to the nephew-faction of the oldest Muslim organization deciding to engage with Modi-led government.
But these are the outsiders who spent last few years bitterly opposed to Modi. They are just trying to be on the good side of the government. We have to look up the statements of the Muslims who can be considered insiders to understand what will be the fate of the Muslims in this new regime.
Najma Heptulla is a political nobody who spent a lifetime in Congress as one of the several Muslim faces and amply rewarded for it by not only being a Member of Parliament in Rajya Sabha for twenty-four long years but also being Deputy Chairperson of the Rajya Sabha for sixteen of those years.

Why the Peshawar & Nairobi attacks are un-Islamic
Islam does not allow taking revenge by attacking innocent people. In fact, the concept of revenge itself is un-Islamic, says Maulana Wahiuddin Khan
In just the last couple of days, there have been two deadly attacks orchestrated by self-styled Muslims, killing many people—the attack on a church in Peshawar and a shopping mall in Nairobi. Attacks on, and persecution of, non-Muslim minorities have escalated in recent years in many Muslim-majority countries.
These attacks are nothing but an expression of frustration. The fact is that in the first half of the twentieth century, some Muslims started a struggle against their so-called enemies. But they completely failed in this endeavour. They then tried to destabilise their supposed enemies. What happened on 9/11 was an act of this kind. However, they failed in achieving anything there as well. Now, they have chosen soft targets, like churches and malls. Such acts only show the extent of their frustration. The only cause for these attacks can be found in these Muslims’ deep frustration due to their total failure. The time has now come for Muslims to take a U-turn. Taking a U-turn means accepting one’s own mistakes, but many Muslim leaders do not have the courage to openly accept their mistakes.

Ramadan fasting is good for the heart: Study by American Hospital, Dubai
The study revealed the month-long fast can reduce bad cholesterol and benefit health long-term
A recent UAE study spearheaded by the lead cardiologist at American Hospital Dubai revealed that fasting during Ramadan could reduce the risk of heart disease.
Last year’s study saw 37 adult volunteers participating, with positive changes in cholesterol levels indicating a healthier heart at the end of the research.
The findings were presented at the World Cardiology Conference in Dubai earlier this year.
Health indicators
During the month-long Ramadan fast, significant changes in eating patterns and habits have the potential to lead to changes in the body that also impact health.

Indian brands get 'halal' stamp
Shilpa Phadnis, TNN
BANGALORE: Islamic branding is an idea whose time has come, as brands tracking a broader consumer base get accustomed to Muslim sensibilities. It's not just about halal food alone, for it's at the forefront of the branding repertoire that resonates deeply with Muslim consumers around the globe.
Homegrown brands like CavinKare, Daawat, Bikano, Goldwinner oil, Vadilal ice cream, Amrutanjan Health Care and Gujarat Ambuja Exports are embracing halal-certification to get a better foothold in markets like Singapore, Malaysia and Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) countries.
CavinKare has got a halal certification from Halal India, an apex body for halal certification , for three of its products - Fairever, Nyle herbal shampoo and Ruchi pickle - to expand its footprint in Singapore, Malaysia and GCC. "The certification is a reason-to-belief for customers on quality parameters. The certification will also give an edge over our competitors," said R S Vijay Kumar, GM of international business at Cavin-Kare , a Chennai-based personal care company.

Urgent need for peace in Middle East: Pope
By DPA,
Rome : Roman Catholic Pope Benedict XVI Sunday called for the prompt resolution of the Middle East conflict and urged Muslim countries to guarantee total religious freedom.
Peace is needed urgently in the volatile region, and an essential prerequisite for dignified life, the pontiff said at a mass at St Peter's Basilica to mark formal closing of the Vatican's two-week synod on future of the Middle East's dwindling Christian communities.
"The conflict in the Middle East has gone on for too long -- the wars, the violence, the terrorism," Benedict said.
Freedom of religion was one of the fundamental human rights every state in the region should respect, he noted. Several Muslim countries tightly curtail the practice of Christianity.
The meeting of bishops, or synod, regarded the need for Christians and Muslims enter into dialogue as important, Benedict said.
The bishops produced a 44-point set of proposals on how to strengthen the Christian presence in the region. The document is to be submitted to the pontiff for his final approval.

Young Sri Lankan woman wins prestigious entrepreneur competition in Mexico City
Fathuma Nisreen, owner of a bag and garment making business in Sri Lanka, has been named the winner of an international competition for young entrepreneurs, organised by Youth Business International (YBI).
The Sri Lanka business woman was announced as the YBI Entrepreneur of the Year last night at a prestigious awards ceremony in Mexico City, after being interviewed by a judging panel of experts on business and entrepreneurship.
The award reflects the challenges that Fathuma has overcome as well as the huge potential that she has to act as a role model for other Muslims in her community and inspire other women around the world.
In a joint statement, the panel said:
"We chose Fathuma because the award will have the biggest impact on her, her family, her community and send a strong message to the world that women are able to start a business while remaining true to their family values. We thought it was remarkable that she was able to start up her business without having to give up her religious and cultural identity.

Overall, we found in Fathuma the courage to overcome tough times, the intelligence to maintain the family as her main motivator, the vision to grow and most of all, the happiness of building a successful business."
The YBI Entrepreneur of the Year competition celebrates the achievement of young entrepreneurs around the world in building a better world for themselves and others. The competition is supported by Barclays Capital and is now in its fourth year.
Fathuma Nisreen has become a role model in her community for her successes in overcoming the restrictions facing Muslim women entering into business, by setting up a design and manufacturing enterprise specialising in traditional outfits and bags. She was able to start up her business with the support of Youth Business Sri Lanka, an accredited member of the YBI network.
Fathuma was competing against three other young entrepreneurs in the competition:
1. Colin Davison from Canada: Stealth Acoustical Control & Emission Inc
Colin's business enables industrial businesses to reduce noise pollution and employs around 60 other people.
2.Alex Tam and Felix Chung from Hong Kong: Ecosage Ltd
Alex and Felix are helping to tackle the waste crisis in Hong Kong with their recycling business, as well as creating employment for many of the city's ragpickers.
3. Shriram Kaluke from India: Shri Ganesh Enterprises
Overcoming a difficult background, Shriram has grown a business providing cleaning services for water tanks, employing 14 people and servicing 1500 clients.
The judging panel comprised of:
Guillermo Baeza, co-founder of Mexican food company Grupo Bafar
Pedro Tejero, Managing Director of Barclays Capital Mexico
Stuart Macdonald, founder of Seric Systems in Scotland and ambassador for YBI
Laura Suarez, Editorial Director of Entrepreneur magazine in Mexico.
Fathuma will receive prize money of US$5,000 from Youth Business International, as well as an invitation to travel to London for a dinner at St James's Palace, which last year was hosted by The Prince of Wales.

In Mumbai, the print of his film was driven at dawn to a temple by horse-drawn carriage in order for it to be blessed.
In Chennai, the 4am showing of the film sold out, forcing fans to hustle to get tickets for the 5am slot.
In Milton Keynes, Britain, movie reviewers were charmed, and in the United States, hard-to-get tickets were reportedly selling for up to US$40 ($54).
This is how things are in the world of Rajinikanth, an Indian movie star of larger-than-life proportions whose every film is a guaranteed hit.
Remarkably, while he may be little known outside India, Rajinikanth is the second highest-earning Asian actor, pipped for the top spot only by Jackie Chan.
At the weekend, the 61-year-old veteran of more than 150 films is earning even more money. His latest film, Endhiran - English title The Robot - opened to good reviews and huge, adoring crowds who queued overnight outside cinemas across the nation. Inside, the audiences shouted and cheered at their hero's unlikely moves while outside fireworks were set off and drums played.

President Ahmadinejad had courage to stand near Ground Zero and says that this hole was done by "Great Satan".
Iran says U.S. did 9/11 to make lots of money from oil in muslim lands. However, it is now obvious that American plan has not worked. Muslims kicked American arse.
President Ahmadinejad asked United Nations to launch an investigation in 9/11 attacks. He said the world needs an independent investigation.
But U.S. Government will not allow proper inquiry into 9/11.
Iran believes that any independent investigation into 9/11 will reveal that U.S. and Israel were behind it.

Facebook founder donates $100 mn to Newark schools
By DPA,
New York: Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg is donating $100 million to the school system in Newark, New Jersey, one of the poorest in the country, it was announced Thursday.
The huge donation came just days before the release in the US of a major Hollywood film about the founding of Facebook, which portrays Zuckerberg in a negative light. It coincided with the release of the Forbes rich list, which named the 26-year-old tech titan as the 35th richest person in America, with a fortune of $6.9 billion.
The New York Times reported that the gift is just the initial donation of an education foundation that Zuckerberg is starting and is by far the largest charitable contribution ever made by the Facebook founder.
The Newark school system is notorious for being one of the worst in the US. It was taken over by the state in 1995 after the New Jersey governor officially declared it a failure.

New Website Launches to Counter Muslim Misconceptions
| New Website Launches to Counter Muslim Misconceptions | |||
| – Muslim Response launches today as a non-profit and non-political information dissemination initiative. The founders of Muslim Response realized that misconceptions regarding the Muslim viewpoint are prevalent in today’s world – almost every voice other than that of the Muslim mainstream dominates. With team members spanning across both Canada and the United States (and growing), Muslim Response will be the go-to source for insight and discussion on world issues, with specific focus on those related to the Muslim community – both nationally and internationally. Asmaa Hussein, VP Media Relations said of the launch "Our vision is to fill the gap which exists in coverage of Islam by presenting a mainstream Muslim response to hot-topic event headlines concerning Islam, Muslims, and other issues". She continued "The Muslim Response team is geared to go viral with the release of well researched, balanced and high quality professional responses through its website and various social media channels." The first project is a short animation that addresses the 'Burn a Koran Day' campaign that was scheduled to take place at a small church in Florida. Although the extremely inflammatory event has since been cancelled, the purpose of this video is not just to tackle this one small campaign, but rather to educate people about the Quran to prevent any similar initiatives from coming to fruition. This video attempts to demystify the Quran, dispelling myths propagated during that campaign. Muslim Response will consistently be updating its website with multimedia that addresses relevant world issues. For more information about Muslim Response’s vision, its programs, or videos, please visit the website online at http://www.muslimresponse.com. Stop burning Quran on 9/11
KABUL, Afghanistan — The top U.S. and NATO commander in Afghanistan warned Tuesday an American church's threat to burn copies of the Muslim holy book could endanger U.S. troops in the country and Americans worldwide.
Meanwhile, NATO reported the death of an American service member in an insurgent attack in southern Afghanistan on Tuesday.
The comments from Gen. David Petraeus followed a protest Monday by hundreds of Afghans over the plans by Gainesville, Florida-based Dove World Outreach Center — a small, evangelical Christian church that espouses anti-Islam philosophy — to burn copies of the Quran on church grounds to mark the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States that provoked the Afghan war.
"Images of the burning of a Quran would undoubtedly be used by extremists in Afghanistan — and around the world — to inflame public opinion and incite violence," Petraeus said in an e-mail to The Associated Press.

19-yr-old Imran sacrificed his life to save two Hindu boys
By Naushad Ahmad for TwoCircles.net,
Siwan: Setting a highest example before communalists in the society, 19-year-old Imran sacrificed his life while saving two Hindu boys in Ranipur village of Siwan district. He drowned but before that he was able to save the boys in the pond near his home.
It was 1.30 pm of a humid after noon at Ranipur on September 1, 2010 when Imran returned to his home from Siwan city after buying clothes and shoes for himself to celebrate Eid, but God had written something else in his destiny.

Imran
Within five minutes after he arrived home, he heard some boys screaming in the pond near his home. Imran reached the spot in no time. He didn’t know swimming and he was fasting too, but he couldn’t see boys dying in front of him. The brave Imran jumped into the pond to save the two boys who were screaming for help. He saved both of them but unfortunately he lost his own balance and went into deep water and couldn’t pull himself out.
Villagers started search operation but they couldn’t trace him for an hour. They again searched for him, finally found him. They took him out of the pond and rushed him to nearby hospital but the doctors there declared him “brought dead”.
Imran was the elder son of Mr. Sultan Ahmed and he was a ray of hope for his poor family. Just a few months back he had completed his draftsmanship course and was planning to seek a job in gulf countries to help his family. He had applied for Passport last week only.
The residents of Ranipur and all other nearby villages are in shock at this heart breaking incident.
Imran’s funeral prayer was attended by a big crowd and the brave son of Ranipur was buried in the village Kabristan.
The villagers hope the Bihar government will forward Imran’s name for Indian National Bravery Award and Jeevan Raksha Padak.
