Hijab Covers the Face

Aisha (radi Allahu anha) said: “I accompanied the Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) to the battle of Ifk after the revelation of the Ayaat of Hijab…. I arrived back at the army camp after he had left with my camel. There was no one left to call or answer. Everyone had left with the army. I covered myself with my shawl and lay down. A little while later, Safwan bin Mu’attal passed by me. He was left behind due to some personal reason and had not spent the night with the rest. When he saw me, he came near and recognized me as he had seen me before the revelation of the Ayaat of Hijab. He recited loudly, ‘Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Rajioon.’ His voice woke me up and I covered my face immediately with my shawl.” [Muslim, Book of Taubah]

Prevention is Better than Cure

The Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “It is not permissible for any woman who believes in Allah and the Day of Judgement to allow anyone to enter her husband’s house, or to leave home, without her husband’s permission; and she should not obey anyone else in this regard.” [Mustadrak Al-Hakim]

A husband is a great source of protection for a woman. His role is generally appreciated when he is lost. Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) has not required women to learn martial arts and all manners of self defense, rather, He (subhana wa ta’ala) in His Infinite Wisdom has provided guidelines and instructions on how to avoid getting into compromising situations, in which all her training in self defense may still not be able to protect her.

The fisherman and the businessman - Brazilian story

,by Paulo Coelho
There was once a businessman who was sitting by the beach in a small Brazilian village.
As he sat, he saw a Brazilian fisherman rowing a small boat towards the shore having caught quite few big fish.
The businessman was impressed and asked the fisherman, “How long does it take you to catch so many fish?”
The fisherman replied, “Oh, just a short while.”
“Then why don’t you stay longer at sea and catch even more?” The businessman was astonished.
“This is enough to feed my whole family,” the fisherman said.
The businessman then asked, “So, what do you do for the rest of the day?”
The fisherman replied, “Well, I usually wake up early in the morning, go out to sea and catch a few fish, then go back and play with my kids. In the afternoon, I take a nap with my wife, and evening comes, I join my buddies in the village for a drink — we play guitar, sing and dance throughout the night.”

The businessman offered a suggestion to the fisherman.
“I am a PhD in business management. I could help you to become a more successful person. From now on, you should spend more time at sea and try to catch as many fish as possible. When you have saved enough money, you could buy a bigger boat and catch even more fish. Soon you will be able to afford to buy more boats, set up your own company, your own production plant for canned food and distribution network. By then, you will have moved out of this village and to Sao Paulo, where you can set up HQ to manage your other branches.”

Destination is Beyond Life

The Prophet of Allah, Muhammad (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam), said: “Be in this life as if you were a stranger or a traveler.” [Bukhari]

A traveler does not waste time in games and diversions; he travels light, with only a fraction of what settled people use; and he doesn’t stop at every eatery along the way, but only when necessary. This is because he cares most about reaching his destination safely and knows the difference between the route and the destination.

The sons of Adam are divided into two types: The first type denies the existence of an abode which awaits Allah’s servants after this life is over, where reward and punishment are experienced. Such people have only one concern, which is to enjoy life and pursue all its pleasures – and the Exalted says: “And those who reject take it easy and eat like cattle eat – and the Fire will be their abode.” [Quran: Surah Muhammad, Ayat 12]

In search of genuine intelligence

There was an article proposing thought provoking articles which may or may not create interest. here is an article [in full] of one of my favourite Bloggers

=============================================================

We live on a planet where spoken language sets us apart from other species, and the possibilities for perversion of that skill are infinite. That is a dangerous world in which it is the duty of all responsibly intelligent humans to highlight and condemn the counterfeit currency of propaganda in all its forms. Before it leaps headlong into the anarchic creation of Artificial Intelligence, Homo sapiens needs a far more discerning definition of what useful intelligence is….and how to encourage it.

- How to Teach

Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “Teach! Make things easy! And do not make things complicated! He repeated this three times and then he added: And if you get angry, keep quiet!” [Ibn Hajar Al-Asqalani, Al-Matalib Al-Aliyah; Ahmad Ibn Hanbal]

Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) came with the most important of teachings. He was sent by none other than the Supreme Most Being, the Creator of all that exists. Therefore, it stands to reason that Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) must have chosen Muhammad (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) because he would be the best teacher for this all important message. Considering this, let’s see what we can learn from this hadith regarding the qualities of excellent teachers:

1a. Make things easy for the students. A teacher should not try to complicate matters. In order to teach effectively, the teacher must know his/her material very well. For this adequate preparation is necessary.

THE NAKED TRUTH OF LIFE

There was a man with four wives. He loved his fourth wife the most and took great care of her and gave her the best.

He also loved his third wife and always wanted to show her off to his friends. However, he always had a fear that she might runaway with some other man.

He loved his second wife too. Whenever he faced some problems, he always turned to his second wife and she would always help him out.

He did not love his first wife though she loved him deeply, was very loyal to him and took great care of him.

Most students of history have only a passing familiarity with the Islamic Golden Age in the Greater Middle East, from about 750 to 1258. Advancements in medicine, algebra and astronomy; influential figures like Avicenna and Averroes: these asides in the traditional story of the late Middle Ages and early Renaissance only gloss the surface of one of the most important periods of world history.

Hearing unlike Seeing

The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “Hearing is not like seeing.” [Ahmad]

Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) says: “The mutual rivalry for piling up (the good things of this world) diverts you (from the more serious things). Until you see the graves!”  [Surah At-Takathur, Ayah 1-2] Truly, competing in accumulating wealth causes destruction in both worlds. But what is its cure? “Until you see the graves!”

Imam Qurtubi (rahimahu Allah) explains in his Tafseer: “The scholars say: It is recommended for him who wants to cure the diseases of his heart and who sincerely wants to begin obeying Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) to, (1) think about the destroyer of pleasures, the separator of groups and the finisher of sons and daughters - death, (2) see those who have passed away, and (3) visit the graves.

“These three things are recommended for him whose heart has become hard and who persists in sins, as a cure for his spiritual diseases and as a shield against temptations and Shaitaan. If contemplating on death benefits him and his heart becomes soft once again, well and good. But if he persists in sinning, he should also visit the dead and their graves. It is possible that he take heed from the viewing of that which only thinking of did not benefit him.

“For remembering death notifies the heart about where it is going to end and is a warning to it: But seeing him who has already passed away and visiting the graves of the Muslims is witnessing it with one’s own eyes. This has a different and special impact. Rasulullah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: ‘Hearing is not like seeing.’ (Ahmad) Thinking about death is not always possible and does not work for him who wants to cure the diseases of his heart immediately. Seeing a grave is faster, and its impact is greater.

“He should learn from him who is already under the ground. (He should think about) how this person got separated from his family and his loved ones, after leading soldiers and armies, starting new generations and families, and gathering wealth and provisions. Then suddenly, death approached him in a time he never expected and he was caught in such shock he wasn’t able to handle it!

“He who has come to visit the grave should contemplate on the condition of his brothers who have already passed away. These brothers of his had set such high hopes and accumulated so much wealth, now look at how their hopes are finished and their wealth doesn’t do them anything. The soil has now erased the different qualities and traits of their faces and has separated the different parts of their bodies. After them it did the same to their women, it orphaned their children and divided their wealth among their heirs.

Following is a letter to his daughter from a renowned Hong Kong TV broadcaster and Child Psychologist.
The words are actually applicable to all of us, young or old, children or parents.!
This applies to all sons & daughters too.
All parents can use this in their teachings to their children.

Dear Children,

The Right Time ....!

I feel it's the right time
To act on my good wishes
That I have kept pending for a while

I feel it's the right time
To throw away the unwanted
luggage carrying all these days

I feel it's the right time
To live for myself
Than living for the material world

I feel it's the right time
To have a positive change
Than working on the negative thoughts

PURPOSE DRIVEN LIFE

Mohamed Rafee
PURPOSE DRIVEN LIFE
RICK WARREN
•    Focusing on ourselves will never reveal our life's purpose
•    The purpose of your life is far greater than your own personal fulfillment, your peace of mind, or even your happiness. It's far greater than your family, your career, or even your wildest dreams and ambitions. If you want to know why you were placed on this planet, you must begin with God. You were born by his purpose and for his purpose.
•    You didn't create yourself, so there is no way you can tell yourself what you were created for!
•    You cannot arrive at your life's purpose by starting with a focus on yourself. You must begin with God, your Creator. You exist only because God wills that you exist. You were made by God and for God-and until you understand that, life will never make sense. It is only in God that we discover our origin, our identity, our meaning, our purpose, our significance, and our destiny. Every other path leads to a dead end.

Health Better than Riches

The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “There is nothing wrong with being rich for those who fear Allah, but for those who fear Allah, good health is better than riches. And peace of mind is also a blessing.” [Musnad Ahmad]

This hadith tells us:

(1) If we fear Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) then wealth won’t hurt us because we will use it appropriately.

How to Prevent Your Kids from Becoming Spoiled

Raising children is not an easy task, because different things, small and large, can affect them and shape the people they will become. It is only natural that as parents, we sometimes make mistakes that eventually enable us to learn how to act in the future, but unfortunately, some of these mistakes can have far-reaching effects and make our children spoiled, both as toddlers and as adults. In order not to fall into the parental traps that make our children spoiled, it’s important to identify problematic behavior in children and cut it out at the root.

These are the 8 things that make children spoiled that you have to stop doing now to prevent them from becoming spoiled adults!

1. You explain things to your children too much

When you give your children reasons and explanations for what you ask of them, they mimic this behavior and do exactly as you do. Sentences like "If you don’t clean up your room you won’t find anything in the mess," make children think they a reason is needed for everything and they’ll come back at you in the same currency with questions like "Why do I have to clean my room, it’s just going to get messy again anyway? This mechanism of question-answer-reason will cause each parent to become confused, flustered, eventually succumb to the child's will, which as a result will make them think they need a reason for everything they are asked to do. By winning the arguments and getting what they want, the child will become spoiled.

What’s the solution?

In order to solve the problem of argumentation, you must be assertive and make your child understand that there are certain things that need to be done even if we don’t want to do them, like cleaning the room. Give them clear instructions, without negotiating such as, "You have to clean your room before you watch TV." To make it easier to stand up for yourself, adopt general phrases that you can use in a variety of areas, such as "In this family, everyone needs to clean their room" so that the child understands that there are clear rules and you don’t have to give a reason for everything.

Arabs

Arabic  singular masculine 'Arabi,  singular  feminine 'Arabiyah,  plural  'Arab  one whose native language is Arabic. (See also Arabic language.) Before the spread of Islam and, with it, the Arabic language, Arab referred to any of the largely nomadic Semitic inhabitants of the Arabian Peninsula. Owners Rights

The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “A man will not be let go on the Day of Resurrection until he has been asked about four things; his life and how he spent it, his knowledge and what he did with it, his wealth and how he earned it and spent it, and his body and how he used it.” [Sunan at-Tirmidhi]

Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) says: “Behold, Allah has bought of the believers their lives and their possessions, promising them Jannah in return…” [Quran: Surah Taubah, Ayat 111]

If I have sold my body, my life and my wealth in exchange for Jannah then do I have any right left over it? If I sell someone my car can I tell them what speed to drive it at, whom to seat in it, what colour to paint it, or which days of the week to use it? It belongs to the new owner: They now have the rights to determine how it is to be used.

Is man’s fate pre-destined or does he have freedom of will?

Is our fate completely pre-destined? Some say we have a choice of which path to choose but what you will find at the end of the path has been chosen for you by Allah. I have also read that qadar was perhaps created by Jahm b. Safwan, not Allah.
Where can I find the information in the Quran and if there is a set destiny how much of it is chosen by God? Is there really a set day on which I will have birth and another for earthly death, for whom I will marry?
What if I did meet the man I am supposed to marry but I somehow choose the wrong path (so I may believe) only to realize I did wrong. Will he come in my path again or have I altered my destiny so that my punishment may be that I can not have this person in my life?.
Praise be to Allaah.
Belief in al-qadar (the divine will and decree) is one of the pillars of faith, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, when he answered Jibreel’s question about faith: “(It means) believing in Allaah, His angels, His Books, His Messengers and the Last Day, and to believe in al-qadar (the divine decree) both good and bad.”
What is meant by al-qadar is that Allaah has decreed all things from eternity and knows that they will happen at times that are known to Him, and in specific ways, and that He has written that and willed it, and they happen according to what He has decreed. [al-Qada’ wa’l-Qadar by Dr ‘Abd al-Rahmaan al-Mahmoud, p. 39].

Ruler’s Betrayal Worst

The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “On the Day of Resurrection, for every betrayer a banner will be raised according to the extent of his betrayal, and no betrayal is greater than that of a ruler.” [Muslim]

Rulers are responsible for the greatest number of people, thus their betrayal is the greatest. A leader’s or ruler’s betrayal is regarded as being so bad because it affects many people, and because he possesses power and authority, so he has no need to resort to betrayal.
