German peace movement urges EU sanctions against Israel

By IRNA,

Berlin : The German peace movement called on the European Union to impose sanctions against the Zionist regime over its policies in Gaza in the wake of Israel's lethal assault on the Gaza peace flotilla.

"The EU has to contemplate about effective sanctions and has to be ready to also enforce them," the Berlin-based daily junge welt quoted spokesman of Germany's peace movement Peter Strutynski as saying.

He urged the international community, especially the EU, to act against Israel's ongoing violations of international law and human rights.

"Piracy and murder are crimes which also have to be punished when they are committed by friendly governments," Strutynski said.

All European allies of the Jewish state have condemned Israel's storming of the Gaza peace boats.
